Robbins records information on a variety of military topics, Including Maps, Telescopes, Grouping, Compasses, the Prismatic Compass, Patrolling and Scouting, Front Line Observation and Reports, Telescopic Sights and Adjustments, Thermometer Targets, Snipers in Attack and Defense, Post Building and Post Sighting, Intelligence Generally, Duties of a Battalion Officer, Artillery Intelligence, War Trade Intelligence, the German Army, identifications, Prisoner Examination, etc.

Biographical note
Howard W. Robbins was a first lieutenant in the 104th Infantry Regiment of the U.S. army.
The 104th Infantry Regiment traces its history to 14 November 1639. In 1662, the unit was formed into the Hampshire Regiment of the Massachusetts Militia. It later served in the Continental Army during the American Revolution, with Union forces in the American Civil War, and as a federalized Massachusetts National Guard regiment with the U.S. Army during the Spanish-American War, Mexican Border Campaign, World War I and World War II.
During World War I, the French Government decorated the colors of the regiment with the Croix de Guerre for their valorous service at Brois Brule, the first time such an honor had ever come to an American unit.
