This collection contains the records of the Dean's Office for the College of Puget Sound (now University of Puget Sound) including those of Dean John D. Regester (1936-1965) and Dean Norman Thomas (approximately 1960-1967).

Abstract The John D. Regester Faculty Lectureship of the University of Puget Sound, in Tacoma, Washington, was established in 1965 to honor Dr. Regester, who joined the Puget Sound faculty in 1924, taught philosophy, and served as Dean of the University and later Dean of the Graduate School. Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965) was a medical missionary, philosopher, and Nobel Peace Prize winner (1952) who operated a hospital in Lambarene, Gabon, for 45 years. This collection contains Schweitzer biographer John D. Regester’s collection of Schweitzer-related correspondence, files, articles, clippings, photographs, and a 1940 manuscript on Indian and Chinese thought, and African artifacts.
